The Silk Roads – A New History of the World by Peter Frankopan

I haven’t read a world history for a few decades and saw this on the Costco book table and bought it on a whim. It was engrossing and incredibly enlightening. It actually looks at the entire world – I didn’t realize until reading this lengthy tome (505 pages) how Europe-centric my understanding of the world was. I found out about Persia, and other ancient civilizations that were thriving while Europe was deep in the dark ages. It was an abrupt, but necessary enlightenment.
