The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides — 323 pages

This is a first novel and I will read books by Mr. Michaelides in the future. This was a tightly wound mystery of a gruesome murder, where the only real suspect is the wife of the man murdered. She goes completely silent and is at a mental institution. She has been there for several years, completely silent. A newly graduated criminal psychotherapist, Theo Faber, has been interested in this high-profile case and ends up being assigned as her therapist. The book goes on from there and it is a really intense read.
