Janis – Her Life and Music by Holly George-Warren — 316 pages

This was a difficult book to read. It was written with clear-eyes and compassion. It was not difficult because of any flaws of the author – far from it. The difficulty was in reading about the self-destruction of such an incredibly gifted musician and vocalist.

Janis Joplin made a big impact on the world in her 27 years. It was tragic that she wasn’t able to corral her demons to stay on the planet for decades longer.
